Haven’t we all heard that silly expression? Hit me with your best shot? The saying isn’t that silly and actually has some interesting history behind it. There was an intelligent person who lived in a far away country who got this wild idea one day during the warm weather to stick socks on their feet instead of their ears.
Really, can you fancy somebody thinking socks should go on the feet instead of the hands; I mean what were they thinking? Mens Socks However, suffice it to say that this person had a lightening bolt strike them with that idea and they got to work and made a whole line of socks for the feet. Fancy that, socks don’t go on your ears. The change from wearing socks on the head to the feet really created a whole new and exciting era in history. Over Knee Socks Ok, getting serious for a bit here. The whole idea of wearing socks on the feet in the first place had to do with the bright idea of keeping the feet protected and keeping them clean as well.
Great idea when you stop to think about it given that just about everyone these days does wear socks for everything from keeping their feet warm to keeping them dry. You have to remember that socks are the quintessential nod to the fashion world of today offering choices we’d never have had at one time and wouldn’t even have thought of if it weren’t for that smart dude inventing them. What on earth would any of us do if we did not have socks to wear on our feet to keep our shoes and boots from giving us blisters? If not socks, then what would we be wearing?
At one time it was animal skins, huge tough leaves, rough cloth and even wool. It’s a matter of fact that the more you walk; the more your socks are going to shred badly. Face it, if you walk lots then the socks you wear are going to suffer the consequences and give up the ghost. Knee Socks Anyone have any ideas what to wear if we don’t wear socks? I get this vision of a rubber boot thing with a thick sole and fancy zippers. Lousy idea for a good sense of fashion.
